Visiting Community Members Community Work Parties
Visiting Community Members (VCMs) are volunteers who visit the Farm for the span of 2 to 7 days and work as a team to accomplish a work project on the Farm. Led by an apprentice, journeyman, master craftsperson, or other staff member, VCMs receive community service or volunteer hours for their service as well as all meals and housing for the duration of their stay. All meals are served family style in the Community Bunk House Common Room. Snacks and water will be available throughout the day. Meals are prepared by the Culinary Arts Apprenticeship Staff.
Have an office group, youth service organization group, or other group interested in a unique way to bond, learn about heritage farming, and earn volunteer service hours while doing it? Groups can register together and request a service project from a list of current projects. Check the VCM Calendar and keep in touch with our Social Media pages to see when the project you are interested is being offered. The Annual D.C.F. Arts and Crafts Fair.
Each year Dreamcatcher Community Farm hosts its annual Arts and Crafts Fair right here on the farm. Event Volunteers help to make the logistical aspects of the fair happen and make the fair run smoothly. From helping with parking, to set up and clean up, to assisting team leads, we depend on our event volunteers to help make the fair a success. Fair Volunteers can stay in our Community Bunk House with full room and board for the weekend, including all meals, and free passes to enjoy the fair between your shifts. Volunteer shifts are tailored to the needs and abilities of the Volunteer and last between 4 and 6 hours. Volunteers can choose to pay part of their admission fee and volunteer for less of the weekend or they can request a full work exchange and volunteer for a total of 12 hours over the course of the event.
